Many cities across the United States are grieving the loss of their iconic downtown areas. As new construction takes over, many cities are deprived of the small-town atmosphere that many residents used to enjoy. But not so in Encinitas. After much deliberation, the city decided to preserve its downtown several decades ago. Encinitas has retained its charm, and downtown Encinitas has become a popular spot for locals to the point it was chosen to be the desired location of the city’s new library.
