Also known locally as PQ, Penasquitos means “little cliffs” in Spanish, while it derives its name Rancho Penasquitos from the first Mexican land grant in the county. For water recreation, jump onto Highway 56 and head to the beach in Del Mar or Torrey Pines Natural Reserve.
