Set down family roots in an upmarket area surrounded by mature landscaping and lush woods in Solana Beach. Situated along 1.5 miles of coastline, Solana Beach is bordered by Rancho Santa Fe to the east, Cardiff-by-the-Sea to the north, and Del Mar to the south. The main downtown area combines modern and new architecture along with vintage historic buildings.
Solana Beach Real Estate
Interstate 5, the main interstate artery that runs north and south from Washington State to the US/Mexico border, divides Solana Beach. Some of the more popular inland neighborhoods in Solana Beach include Solana Hills, Loma Del Cielo West, and Solana Del Mar. Oceanfront living is available in laidback yet affluent communities such as Las Brisas, Seascape Sur, and Surfsong.
Solana Beach homes for sale are diverse, ranging from single-family homes, luxury oceanfront properties to vacation, and rental apartments. Thrown-in is a mix of attached and detached condos. As prices tend to increase well into the millions for properties situated close to the beach, buyers will discover more affordable options inland.
The much more sophisticated half of Solana Beach is “East of I-5”. The area comprises neighborhoods such as Santa Fe Hills, Lomas Santa Fe, and San Elijo Hills. The real estate market in these neighborhoods features elegant executive homes on larger lots than on the west side of town.
Traditionally, Solana Beach real estate market does not have many listings. Combined with area amenities, a convenient location, and beach life, Solana Beach is one of the more expensive communities on the Coast of San Diego County.
Besides the allure of oceanfront living, Solana Beach is home to several popular spots that both locals and visitors frequent. The Cedros Design District is the most popular area in Solana Beach. The shopping mecca is perfect for residents looking for a one-of-a-kind accent for their home, a hot new outfit or just shopping for supplies. But there’s more. Pack a picnic or stock up on groceries at the weekly farmers' market held every Sunday. What’s more, a gallery crawl (the monthly Gallery Night) is held on the third Thursday of each month.
Along Highway 101 in the downtown area of Solana Beach is another shopping district. It features a mix of newly designed shopping centers along with historic buildings, quaint beach motels as well as the Solana Beach train station. Ranging from fast food eateries to upscale restaurants, dining in the area can be good, and eclectic. Noteworthy restaurants for lunch, dinner, or weekend brunch include Parioli Italian Bistro, Pamplemousse Grille, and the Wild Note Café.
Recreation and Entertainment
Few places in the country serve up opportunities to enjoy the gorgeous year-round weather like Solana Beach. With over 1.5 miles of beach, Fletcher Cove is the main beach in Solana. For a day on the greens, you can practice your swing at two courses—the Lomas Santa Fe Executive Golf Course (public) and the Lomas Santa Fe Country Club (private). Beyond the community, Rancho Santa Fe and Del Mar are excellent nearby courses.
Educational Opportunities in Solana Beach
If you have kids or plan to have them, you’ll be glad to know that two school districts—the Solana Beach School District and the San Dieguito Union High School District—serve Solana Beach with public education.
